Position Purpose

The Water Technologies and Solutions, Analytical Instruments product line business has an opportunity for a Vertical Market Manager - Life Sciences to be located in Boulder, CO. The Vertical Market Manager is responsible for driving growth in the life sciences vertical by identifying, developing, and executing strategies to increase market share and revenue. This position requires strong leadership skills, business acumen, and a deep understanding of the industry and its customers. This role will work with several internal functional teams and will collaborate closely with our global sales teams to develop and execute local, regional and market growth plans. This role will directly manage a team that could include Product Managers, Commercial Applications and Business Development Specialists.

The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated market visionary and experienced strategic, customer focused leader. The ideal candidate also has a good knowledge of the life sciences markets and has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is a good collaborator across different functions of an organization. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to increase market share and revenue within the assigned industry vertical.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize market opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with existing and potential customers to understand their needs and drive customer loyalty.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the product management and applications team to deliver on the market strategy.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop and execute targeted campaigns that drive demand and awareness.
  • Identify key trends, market drivers, competitor landscapes and customer requirements for the vertical’s products and services, including potentially disruptive technologies.
  • Work closely with the product management team to ensure products and services meet the unique needs of the industry vertical.
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics to measure the success of initiatives and identify areas for improvement.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with sales to support a consultative sales process inclusive of industry sales strategy, customer facing support materials, training, and applications support
  • Maintain expertise within the team in applicable regulatory requirements. Meet with regulators as needed to proactively confirm that products are aligned with relevant industry regulations, guidelines, and instructions.
  • Develop application notes, peer-reviewed technical papers, executive summaries and other marketing material to support marketing campaigns and sales activity.
  • Support field sales activity through technical seminars, trade-show attendance, and key sales demos.
  • Comply with all company policies including inclusion and diversity, quality, and environmental, health, and safety.

Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in sales, marketing, business development or product management, with a focus on the Life Sciences Market.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Deep understanding of the industry vertical and its customers.
  • Experience with market research and analysis.
  • Proven track record of success in driving growth and revenue in a specific industry vertical.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to equate price to customer value
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proven expertise presenting to executive and mid-level customers and groups
  • Ability to work with and influence cross-functional teams
  • Good understanding of customer segments and product applications for life science, industrial and/or municipal markets.
  • Understanding of trends that impact the product line commercial performance
  • Utilizes project management skills. Comprehending the critical elements of a project. Converting these skills into more rapid product development programs.

  • Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $140,000 - $160,000 annually
